This cheese press mimics commercial cheese presses but on a bench scale. It is easy to use, easy to clean and will last a life time. A simple table/calculation is provided so you can calculate the pressure you have applied to each cheese and tighten or loosen the two stainless steel springs, to provide an exact pressure. The maximum pressure that can be applied is 40kg. Made from stainless steel and food grade plastic. This press has been deliberately made free of timber as moving timber parts that are wet will wear easily, cannot be properly cleaned and do not have the resilience of the solid food grade plastic. You will need to assemble the press, but that will take 5 minutes and instructions and photos are provided. There is no need to dismantle the press after use, just wash the whole unit in warm soapy water, rinse and towel dry, it can even be placed in the dishwasher. This press is used at each cheesemaking course.
It can be used for any size cheese hoop up to 145mm wide and 250mm tall (so it will easily take the 115mm & the 130mm hoops), there is no minimum hoop dimension. The base plate and two followers are a sturdy 20mm thick. The followers will move easily up and down over the stainless steel rods so the cheese hoop/s can be easily positioned before pressing. The large clamping lobe knobs are for fast and easy tightening during pressing and loosening the pressure at the end of pressing. One cheese can be pressed by itself or two smaller cheese can be pressed side by side. The hoops and moulds and red draining tray in the image are not provided. The 4 x rubber stoppers on the base and the 2 x black plastic clamping lobe knobs are not food grade.
